Whispers: Rumors about the City

They say in Thelin you can buy anything, even souls.
They say in Thelin there are people who will buy your dreams, your memories, and your fears.

They say that the desert is a sleeping dragon and the sandstorms are its breath.
They say the desert was a rich mountain kingdom filled with fruit and peace until the ancient kings sold it to a demon for money and everlasting fame.
They say the desert used to be plentiful until the god of the sand elves died. They say the oases are its blood seeping out of the ground, one last attempt to nourish and protect his people.
They say the sand springs from the decaying bodies of dragons who come here to die.
They say the desert is an unaltered product of the natural patterns of rain and wind. There aren’t many who believe that.
They say the desert contains the bones and riches of five of the greatest empires the world has forgotten. They say sooner or later, Thelin will be the sixth.

They say there are thirteen towers in Thelin where demons can freely enter our world.
They say the witches have eaten all the cats.
They say the vampires have enslaved the legislature.
The say the legislature are the vampires.
They say government radio is managed by a particularly petty monkey demon.
They say that government radio plays songs that make you more likely to buy hot clothes in the summer time.
They say in Thelin there are three non-humans for every human.
They say in Thelin there are ten humans for every supernatural.

They say in Thelin, a stranger is twice as likely to rob you blind as it is to offer you a glass of water.
They say in Thelin, the beggars know three words that are the secret to success.
They say anything that has been lost, can be found somewhere in Thelin, even souls.
A little fun thing I put together to add a bit of flavor to our word. Accept none of these as fact...unless you want to. ;)

Now that I've got around to reading this, I want to write Thelin fairytales. I may not actually get around to it, but...
